Saskia is a certified CBT practitioner (Diploma level 5), and has been working with CBT clients for over 4 years. Also being an experienced NLP coach & Hypnotherapist, Saskia offers a unique blend of integrated techniques as part of a broad spectrum of support, to tailor interventions to suit a your needs.

 

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and therfore behave.

 

It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but is useful for a whole range of other mental and physical health problems. CBT cannot remove your problems, but it can help you deal with them in a more positive way.

 

 

 

CBT was devised by Aaron Beck and is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle.

CBT aims to help you crack this cycle by breaking down overwhelming problems into smaller parts and showing you how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.

 

Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.

What I will do - Create a safe environment for you to share the good, the bad and the ugly. I'll be professional and teach you strategies that are more helpful so you can deal with challenges easier and better. You and I decide on homework, which will help you remember what the truth is, and practise strategies to help you feel better.

What I won't do - Tell you what to do, Interrupt you, or just let you offload. That is not what therapy is for. 

Together we'll explore what is going on in your life, and what you can/need to do to feel better.

CBT sessions are 45 minutes long and take place at the Counselling Cabin, 14 Kingsley Gardens, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. 

A series of 6-8 CBT sessions is usually what it takes to give you the tools to work through the challenges you are experiencing.

Cost: £65 per session when you purchase a block of 6.
